We’re proud to announce that our new mobile web application for Taxi Rank is up and running! It’s designed to be compatible across not just smartphones but almost any mobile phone web browser, it’s now a super simple way to get scooped while you’re out in town. GPS location enabled

If your mobile phone has GPS enabled then your pickup location is automatically determined. If that’s not what you want, then just type your pickup location into the Destination text box.

One click pick-up

Guaranteed to be your favourite feature, the first page of our new mobisite is the quick pickup page. Your pickup location is determined by GPS, your mobile number is remembered after you enter it once and you can change the cab company if you want. Otherwise, just press Fetch Me and a cab will be dispatched to your location immediately.

Bookmark to your homescreen

If you have a BlackBerry, iPhone or Android phone, you can bookmark the Taxi Rank mobisite to your homescreen with an app icon. Now you have Taxi Rank handy for those one click pickups!

Detailed booking form

If you need to specify more detail about your trip and view quotes from all the taxi operators, then you can still use the detailed booking form which has all of the same functionality as the website.

To get to this page just select Change to detailed booking form at the bottom of the page. You can always select it again to go back to the Quick Pickup page.

View taxi quotes on your mobile

Once you’ve entered your requirements on the detailed booking form, you can see quotes from all the different taxi operators that can pick you up. They are ordered by price, you can select something cost effective to save money or upgrade yourself to a more confortable ride and arrive in style. Just select which ever service you want from the list to submit your order. You will then receive a confirmation SMS after about 15 minutes where the taxi company will confirm their pricing* and pickup time closest to your order.

*Confirmed pricing in most cases works out to be the same or cheaper.

Below are instructions on how you can start using Taxi Rank. If you have any questions, you can check out our FAQ page or drop us a line.

How to use Taxi Rank

1. Go to www.taxirank.co.za
2. Enter the username and password, when prompted.
3. Start typing your pick up location. You can type a street address or the actual name of a restaurant, club, hotel, mall or beach and you will start to get automatic suggestions as you type. Choose the suggestion you want using your mouse or move up and down with your keyboard arrows and press Enter.
4. Repeat the process for your destination and then click Find Taxi
5. You will be presented with a list of available Taxi’s and their pricing, click on the one you want.
6. You can then edit details of your trip information, such as:
• Pick up time - leave it as is for immediate pick up
• Your Cellphone number - required for SMS confirmation
• Your name
• Number of passengers - more passengers may increase the price depending on if another taxi is required
7. Submit your order.
8. Wait about 5 minutes for the the Taxi Company to send you a confirmation SMS with the confirmed cost, pick-up time and pick-up location for your order.
